Peer-Review Process

The peer review process at Perspektif: Jurnal Agama dan Kebudayaan is designed to ensure the quality, validity, and originality of the articles published. We are committed to conducting a transparent, objective, and professional review process that upholds academic integrity and adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics.

Peer Review Stages

  1. Article Submission
    • Authors submit their manuscripts through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in accordance with the journal's Author Guidelines.
    • Submitted manuscripts must meet the initial requirements, including: Relevance to the journal's aims and scope, Compliance with the journal's formatting requirements; and Freedom from plagiarism.
  2. Initial Editorial Screening
    • Upon submission, the editorial office conducts an initial administrative screening to ensure that the manuscript meets the journal's basic requirements, including the completeness of the abstract, keywords, references, and other essential elements.
    • Manuscripts that do not satisfy these administrative requirements will be returned to the authors for correction before proceeding to the next stage.
  3. Reviewer Assignment
    • Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned by the editor to independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area.
    • Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research expertise, and experience in the relevant discipline.
  4. Peer Review Process
    • Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
      • Originality and Novelty: The manuscript should present original research or scholarly work that has not been previously published.
      • Relevance: The manuscript must be relevant to the aims and scope of the journal.
      • Methodology: The research design, methods, and analytical approach should be clearly described, appropriate, and scientifically sound.
      • Quality of Writing: The manuscript should be well-organized, clearly written, and easy to understand.
      • Scholarly Contribution: The manuscript should make a meaningful contribution to the fields of religion, culture, and related interdisciplinary studies.
    • Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts. These recommendations may include suggestions for revision or requests for clarification.
  5. Editorial Decision
    • After considering the reviewers' reports, the Editor makes one of the following decisions:
      • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without revision or with only minor editorial changes that do not affect its scholarly content.
      • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires minor revisions that do not substantially alter its main arguments or findings. The revised manuscript will be evaluated by the editor before a final decision is made.
      • Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial revisions, which may include methodological improvements, additional data or analysis, or significant revisions to the discussion. The revised manuscript may be sent back to the reviewers for further evaluation.
      • Resubmit (Conditional Rejection): The journal is willing to reconsider the manuscript in a subsequent review cycle after the authors have addressed major concerns and substantially revised the manuscript.
      • Reject (Outright Rejection): The manuscript is rejected and will not be reconsidered for publication, even if major revisions are made.
    • The peer review process generally takes approximately two to three weeks. Authors are encouraged to actively monitor the progress of their manuscripts through the OJS platform and to comply with all applicable editorial procedures.
  6. Revision and Resubmission
    • If revisions are requested, authors are given a specified period to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers' comments and recommendations.
    • The revised manuscript must be resubmitted through the OJS system. It will then be reassessed by the editor and, where necessary, by the original reviewers.
  7. Final Decision and Publication
    • Once the revised manuscript has met the journal's quality standards, it will be formally accepted for publication.
    • Accepted manuscripts will proceed through the production process and be published in accordance with the journal's publication schedule. Authors will be notified of the expected publication date.

Confidentiality and Transparency

  • Confidentiality: Throughout the peer review process, all parties involved—including authors, reviewers, and editors—are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the submitted manuscripts. Unpublished manuscripts and their contents must not be shared, disclosed, or used for personal or professional gain.
  • Transparency: The journal is committed to ensuring that the peer review process is conducted fairly, transparently, and without bias. Reviewers are required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity of their evaluations.

Handling Publication Ethics Issues

If there is any suspicion of publication misconduct—including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, or undisclosed conflicts of interest—the journal will conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics standards.

 

Authors, reviewers, and readers are encouraged to report any suspected ethical violations through the appropriate communication channels provided by the journal.

Final Decision

The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests solely with the Editor, taking into consideration the reviewers' recommendations and the journal's editorial standards. Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors will receive detailed instructions regarding the final stages of copyediting, proofreading, and publication.
